Flooded with Support

If you’ve been in Calgary over the past two weeks you know there has been intense weather outside. Tornado warnings, heat and hail have kept us all on high alerts. What you might not know is that the weather has been a little crazy inside Momentum, too. Last week a pipe in our ceiling burst and our offices flooded.
About a third of our space is affected. If you visit us in person in the coming weeks you will notice drying equipment and some renovations. Your class or meeting might be in a different room than you are used to, so be sure to check in with Adyam at reception so you know where to go.
While our facilities team works to minimize disruptions, we also pause to give thanks that we work within such a loving network of individuals and organizations.
Staff who were in the building during the event took immediate action to redirect water and limit the damage to the building. A participant who arrived to learn his class was canceled didn’t hesitate either—in fact he quickly created a great system to remove water using hoses, a shop vacuum, and duct tape! Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves on the night of the flood.
We also received generous offers from partners to host our employees and classes as needed. First Calgary Financial and the Alberta Human Services office in Radisson Heights were quick to offer physical space so our operations could continue uninterrupted. Calgary Economic Development also stepped up and provided last minute meeting space—It was a huge help.
Everything should be back to normal in a few weeks. Thank you for your patience!
