Business Feasibility Study
This program can help you determine if your idea can be turned into a successful business through the completion of a feasibility study. If you’re not sure about your business idea, the Business Feasibility Study is a good place to start before committing to one of our longer self employment programs.
Design Your Business
Integrating Social Enterprise concepts such as prioritizing social and environmental welfare, Design Your Business helps you consider the impacts of your business on stakeholder groups, and guides you through determining the value your business creates within our communities. It also helps you understand how to conduct business in a way that is in alignment with your own core values.
Part-Time Self Employment program
In this evening program you will learn how to start your business, write a comprehensive business plan, and launch your business. Classes take place two evenings a week for three months, with one hour of business coaching per week. You will also have access to three months of post-program coaching to support the implementation of your business plan. This program is ideal for people who are working in the day, need evening childcare, or would be best supported in an evening program.
Self Employment Program
This is a daytime, in-person program that lasts 6 months. You will receive in-class training on basic business operations and how to create an effective business plan. You will also have access to business coaching throughout the course to help your new business become operational quickly. If accepted, you may be supported by an active EI claim or Learner Income Support, depending on household circumstances.
Micro Loans for Businesses
Sometimes you need a little extra financial support to start or expand your business. If you have completed one of Momentum’s business programs and have faced difficulty in getting a loan from a bank or credit union, you can apply for a character-based Micro Business Loan.
You can apply for up to $10,000 if you have a completed a Business Development program at Momentum, have a business plan, and acceptable credit history.
