Automatic Federal Benefits for all Social Assistance Recipients

Tax filing is a critical gateway to income security. Most people living on social assistance have a simple tax situation and should fully benefit from access to the automatic federal benefits program. Information sharing between the CRA and provinces/ territories would allow the federal government to use existing data to verify eligibility, enable deemed filing, and dramatically expand benefit access for people with low incomes on social assistance.
