Owen Hart Home Owners Program
Do you want to be a homeowner? The Owen Hart Home Owners Program is a free program that offers people living in low-income situations the opportunity to save for a down payment for a home. It also helps develop increased money management skills with an emphasis on homeownership issues.
How does it work?
Participants will attend regular workshops, peer group meetings, and one-on-one consultation sessions to better understand their needs as a homeowner and how to select their perfect home. During this time, participants will deposit between $100 – $250 per month for one year, saving $3,000. After one year, savings are matched at a 2:1 ratio ($2 for every $1 saved) for a combined total of $9,000, which they can put towards the down payment of a new home.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible for the program if you live on a low income and have successfully completed a Matched Savings Program for Adults or Youths in Calgary, either at Momentum or one of our Aspire Community Partner Agencies. More information on the program can be found at the Owen Hart Foundation website.
