A credit report is a detailed report of the last 6 years of a person’s credit history. Lenders use credit reports to determine if they will lend you money or not. A credit report sometimes called a disclosure or credit history. Check out sample reports:

Equifax and TransUnion are the two credit bureaus where you can get your credit report.
If you apply by mail or phone, you can get your report once a year for free from both credit bureaus. If you apply online, you will have to pay a fee and you will receive your report instantly.

You will need to answer a series of questions to confirm your identity. You also may need to provide your Social Insurance Number and/or credit card number to confirm your identity.
