November is Financial Literacy Month (FLM) in Canada. This year’s FLM aims to rally organizations and individuals across Canada to support the national Financial Literacy strategy that was launched in June. The three goals of the strategy are:
- Manage money and debt wisely
- Plan and save for the future
- Prevent and protect against fraud and financial abuse
“Count me in, Canada” is this year’s FLM theme. This reflects the need for the public, private and non-profit sectors to come together to build financial literacy in Canada.
How can you take part? There are a vast number of activities designed to help you increase your financial literacy during FLM 2015.
The United Way has a calendar of events on their website. You could attend a workshop on controlling your money, sign-up for an RESP, or attend a speaking event with personal finance expert Preet Banerjee.
You can follow and share information on social media using the hashtags #FLM2015 and #CountMeInCA.
There will also be a daily challenge on Facebook and Twitter.
