Twas 19 Days Before Christmas

In honour of Momentum’s Christmas Open House and the holidays to come, we present our own twist on a classic poem. Happy holidays from the entire staff!

Twas 19 days before Christmas, when all through Momentum
The staff was a scurrien, the party was loomin;
The food was laid out on the tables with care,
In hopes the community soon would be there;

~

Momentumites were nestled all snug in position,
While hopes of good times were all ‘round envisioned;
And Brenda in her antlers, and Dean starting up an app,
Both warn facilitators “No time for naps!”

~

When out in the foyer there arose such a clatter,
We sprang to position ready to get at er.
Away to rooms food runners flew like a flash,
Cleaning up spills and distributing nosh.

~

Amber’s camera flashing on the white painted walls
Gave the lustre of mid-day down the decorated halls,
When, what to Momentum’s wondering should appear,
But a tall jolly Jeff, and his three miniatures,

~

With Chelsea ho-hoing, so lively and quick,
We knew in a moment the party was lit.
More rapid than Black Friday shoppers they came,
And we whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

~

Now, David! Now, Rain! Now, Surya and Jacklyn!
On Yarnland! on Vezorla! and On Miral’s Kitchen!
To the top of Whale and Wolf! Please don’t ding the walls!
Now mingle! Now sell! Now have fun all!

~

As participants from workshops with info they fly,
Finally understanding compound interest; why debts get so high,
So up and down the halls the community flew
With passports and cider, and good munchies too.

~

And then, in a twinkling, we heard in the pipes
The pounding and scraping of effort not slight.
As we went down the hall, and were following the sound,
Down in Buffalo activities happening all around.

~

They were dressed all in finery, from their heads to their foots,
And they moved to each station with focus and strut;
A bundle of wires, a hammer and nails,
Skills tables were loaded with wins and with fails.

~

Their eyes – how they twinkled! Their dimples how merry!
Their cheeks full of glitter, on their nose a fake cherry!
The droll hats sprouting feathers and topped with a bow,
Fake beards for their chins were as white as the snow;

~

The photobooth remote he held tight in his hand,
Setting up shots Aaron circled the land;
Down the hall in the coat check garments piled up so many,
All colours, shapes, and sizes went on hangers a plenty.

~

A focused and excited customer was the old elf,
As he beelined to the vendors, in spite of himself;
Blinking his eyes and twisting his head,
Taking in all the vendors and their wares; oh look bread!

~

Down the hall other venders called out their wares,
As busy as toy elves servers ran with care.
And FinancElf workers shared tips, tricks, and cider,
And encouraged the community to save for what matters;

~

Momentum sprang to action, to one another gave high fives,
And the night flew right by in the twinkling of an eye.
But the community heard them exclaim, ere they drove out of sight,

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!
