StartWork provides employment training and access to Canadian work experience to refugees currently receiving Alberta Income Support.

StartWork provides employment training and access to Canadian work experience as an alternative for refugees currently receiving Alberta Income Support.

Benefits of the StartWork program:

  • Access free employment training including a paid living allowance equivalent to what you are receiving from Alberta Income Support.
  • Earn money and start a career with wages and benefits above and beyond what you are receiving from Alberta Income Support.
  • Gain access to a free driver’s license training program.
  • Build connections with others new to working in Calgary.

Do you qualify?

  • Open to refugees currently receiving Alberta Income Support

  • Ready, willing and physically able to work

  • Canadian English Benchmark of 4 or higher

  • Have a work permit and/or are a Permanent Resident
