Being a Localist

A few weeks ago I was at a family friends’ house for dinner when I noticed a bottle of Vezorla Olive Oil on his kitchen counter. As a Momentum supporter, he was excited when I told him that Veronica – the owner of Vezorla – is a Momentum business training graduate who successfully paid off her Micro Business Loan a few years ago.

…And That’s a Wrap of 2018!

On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, over 150 people gathered at the Danish Canadian Club for Momentum’s Annual Celebration and General Meeting. It was a joy-filled afternoon where guests mingled and connected with other community members while partaking in delicious food from the Danish Canadian Club and Momentum’s own business graduates.

We buy local coffee… mostly.

At Momentum, we like to put our money where our mouth is. This means acting on our values around sustainability – especially when it comes to the things we, quite literally, put in our mouths. This approach applies to our food, which we try to buy from local small businesses and cooperatives, and our coffee.

Originally featured in a blog post last autumn, Momentum caught up with Michael of Carrver Creations at our annual Business Breakfast on March 1, 2019. Quantifying ‘success’ in this instance is more than being on budget and exceeding our attendance targets (don’t get us wrong, we’re celebrating that too). But the conference, very… Read more

After starting her own family she had to count… Read more

The other thing that is exciting for me lately is my journey as an artist. In 2016 I had my first… Read more
